The tourist port of Marina Dorica is located near the commercial port of Ancona, north west of Mount Conero (572 m) which is the only promontory of importance on the entire central Adriatic coast.
The sandy seabed is at a depth between 2.5 and 4 metres; the seabed at the harbour entrance can, under the influence of strong low tides, decrease to under 3 metres (for draughts near this limit, it is advisable to reduce speed to under 3 knots, as required).

Access: the harbour entrance is oriented towards WNW
Notes on entry: arriving from NE the entrance lights of the port appear inverted; approach must be carried out leaving the red light 100 metres to the left, a short protection panel at the entrance extends the reef breakwater and is signaled by an additional red fixed light.
